Moving home in England

Further guidance was released on 6 January regarding moving home and changes to self isolating.

The guidance statesĀ

  • if you are aged 18 years 6 months or over and you are not fully vaccinated, and you live in the same household as someone with COVID-19, you are legally required to stay at home and self-isolate.
  • if you are fully vaccinated or aged under 18 years and 6 months, and you live in the same household as someone with COVID-19, you are not legally required to self-isolate. However, you are strongly advised to take an Lateral Flow Device (LFD) test every day for seven days, and to self-isolate if any of these test results is positive.

Self isolating can now end after seven days, providing you have two negative lateral flow tests that have been taken 24 hours apart. The first lateral flow test should be taken on day six

The guidance still requires any estate or letting agents that come into contact with members of the public in their office, should wear face masks, as well as wash their hands regularly, wipe down surfaces and have the windows open whilst in the same vicinity as members of the public.

This is the same if an agent, landlord or contractor who wishes to enter a property for viewings, property inspections or maintenance works. Unless the owner/ occupier is self isolating.

Viewings should be carried out remotely before viewing in person for the time being and if agents can work from home the guidance recommends they do so.
