Practice direction 55C (PD55C) came into force on 23 August 2020. It provided temporary provisions relating to possession proceedings during the coronavirus pandemic. Parts of this rule are due to come to an end on 30 November 2021. However para 6.1 and 6.2 of the Practice Direction will continue to have effect until 30 June 2022.

This means a landlord is still required to submit a notice to the courts with information as to how the pandemic has affected their tenants and their dependents.

The court’s standard period between paperwork being issued and a hearing will resume to eight weeks. As para 4.1 (b) will no longer apply after 30 November.
