Finally The Renters (Reform) Bill has finally been published and there will be a second reading in the House of Commons tomorrow (18 May 2023).

A few of the things the Bill covers are

  • the removal of a landlord serving a section 21 Form 6a,
  • adding additional grounds for section 8 for a landlord to be able to get the property back,
  • statutory rent increase which means there can no longer be rent increase clauses in the tenancy agreement,
  • a tenant requesting to keep a pet at the property (which is no different to now) as they would still require the landlords consent but must do so within 42 days
