The Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities recently released a Renters’ Reform White Paper. Which will impact the future for the private rented sector.
The have suggested a 12 point plan which will include:
- Decent Homes
- Targeted Introduction
- Abolish section 21
- Strengthen grounds for possession
- Strengthen enforcement
- Only permit one rent increase per year
- Have a landlord ombudsman
- Blanket bans for applicants or tenants in receipt of benefits or have children
- Permit pets
- Deposit passporting
The Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities select committee have launched a Call for evidence which is only open for a short time, focusing on the impacts and implementations that are proposed.
