The Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities recently released a Renters’ Reform White Paper. Which will impact the future for the private rented sector. 

The have suggested a 12 point plan which will include:

  • Decent Homes
  • Targeted Introduction
  • Abolish section 21
  • Strengthen grounds for possession
  • Strengthen enforcement
  • Only permit one rent increase per year
  • Have a landlord ombudsman 
  • Blanket bans for applicants or tenants in receipt of benefits or have children
  • Permit pets
  • Deposit passporting

The Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities select committee have launched a Call for evidence which is only open for a short time, focusing on the impacts and implementations that are proposed.
